insurance & licensing
Why Choose trotters wedding and transport services?
We have invested heavily to create the best possible van, and to ensure that our sevices far exceed those offered by other simillar companies.
We are Legal and proud!
We are the ONLY fully licensed Delboy Van in the country!
We are fully licensed and insured for ANY event - Proms, Birthdays, etc...
With the exception of Weddings and Funerals (legally exempt from licensing rules), none of the other companies out there are legally allowed to, or insured for any other events.
If another company is offering their van for Proms & Birthdays etc, we strongly recomend that you request their licence number and verify this with the local authority
There are no exceptions, loop holes, ways round the system - its the law!
We have heard some crazy examples of 'loop holes' being offered:
"Pay in cash and I'll just say I'm doing the job for free"
"You are only paying for a photo with the van, the ride is free"
"I have wedding use insurance, that also covers me for Proms"
The examples above (and anything simillar) all count as 'hire and reward' and therefore require the vehicle (and driver) to be fully licensed for private hire (exactly the same as 'taxi').
What does all this mean?
To be fully licensed requires an Operators Licence, a Vehicle Licence and a Drivers Licence to comply with the Road Safety Act 2006.
Anyone offering any vehicle to carry passengers unlicensed is uninsured and risks prosecution.
Nothing is more important than your safety. Why risk it?
Private Hire Vehicle Licence - Proves that the vehicle has passed exhaustive independent safety checks and is regularly inspected.
Private Hire Drivers Licence – Proves that drivers have undergone enhanced CRB/DBS checks and regular medicals, as well as passing an extensive knowledge based test.
Operator’s Licence – Proves compliance with other statutory administrative rules and regulations.
We have them all!
Unlicensed companies break the law by accepting paid bookings, and will not have the statutory insurances to cover events such as Proms, Birthdays, etc. The Police an VOSA are very aware of the issue around unlicensed vehicles - particularly at Proms. They are actively clamping down on the this and seizing/crushing the offending the vehicles. Why risk it? At best the vehicle you are in might be seized. At worst, in the event of an accident, they will not be insured.
